Latitude Media’s WCZY-FM/WMMI-AM (Mt. Pleasant) held their annual “Fill a Mayflower” drive on November 22, raising a record number of non-perishable food items as well as monetary donations to be given to area food pantries.  The event began at 6 a.m. and continued through 6 p.m.

In an article posted in the Morning Sun, station Operations Manager and Air Personality Shawn Powers said, “The event gets bigger every year and the food and money stays in Isabella. So we’re helping our own people.”  As a result, the drive was able to serve six area food pantries (as opposed to 5 last year) as well as the Care Store.

This year the event added a “Corporate Charity Challenge” where local businesses, on social media and with My1043 radio, challenge each other to raise the most non-perishable foods and cash for the this event.
