The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Detroit Section will host a virtual meeting open to all members, guests and non-members on October 13.  The topic will be NDI (Network Device Interface) and will feature guest speakers Will Waters, Head of Product Management, NewTek and Grant Guston, AVI Systems.

Network Device Interface (NDI) is a royalty-free software standard developed by NewTek to enable video-compatible products to communicate, deliver, and receive high-definition video over a computer network in a high-quality, low-latency manner that is frame-accurate and suitable for switching in a live production environment. Will Waters of NewTek will present a short history of the development of the NDI standard, where it currently lives in the commercial broadcast ecosystem, and where NewTek sees it going forward. Will will be joined by Grant Guston of AVI Systems, a reseller that has done designs and installs using NDI. Between the two, we hope to offer a wide view of the dream and practical realities of NDI.
