News Corp.’s Rupert Murdoch has suggested Facebook should pay for news content shared on the platform from premium publishers – those it has deemed “trusted” publishers – as it enhances Facebook’s reputation and combats fake news.

“If Facebook wants to recognize ‘trusted’ publishers then it should pay those publishers a carriage fee similar to the model adopted by cable companies,” he said.
