Trisha Peterson is the General Manager for WJNR/WOBE/WHTO Radio in Iron Mountain.
Trisha started in radio when she was 12 years old working with her father on the new shopping show, she was the producer of the show handing him the certificate that the listener was asking for and processing sales, working the front desk, filing, and various jobs around the station.
She worked there all the way through high school and attended college at UW Oshkosh for Business Administration and transferred to UW Stout for Hospitality Tourism Management. Graduated from there and worked in the hotel industry in Minneapolis for a year before she was asked to move to Iron Mountain and be the promotions manager/traffic manager at the radio station.
“I got involved in the community right away when I arrived in Iron Mountain, so I could meet people and network. I’ve been President of Kiwanis twice in 15 years and other positions in that group, active in the Chamber and currently an Ambassador where we host ribbon cuttings for new businesses” Peterson said .
“After I was traffic manager for a few years, our General Manger was terminated. I moved into that role at a young age, never being in sales. I also took an account list and had to learn everything in sales and management on the fly. I guess you could say I grew up in the business because I really did. I started at a very young age and only took a little time off for college and hotel experience and I was back. Radio is part of my blood and I could never see myself doing anything else”.
