MAB’s Klemet Meets with AG Nessel

(L-R) MAB incoming President and CEO Sam Klemet and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel

MAB incoming President and CEO Sam Klemet met with Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel this week.

Nessel, along with 14 other Attorneys General in the country, recently signed a letter in support of the Local Journalism Sustainability Act that would create a targeted tax credit for the hiring and retention of local journalists as well as a tax credit for businesses to advertise with local broadcast radio and TV stations.

“The Local Journalism Sustainability Act is legislation that will help stabilize newsrooms and ensure Michigan communities continue to have access to coverage that impacts their everyday lives and safeguard the continued viability of local journalism and the vital services of broadcasters,” said Klemet.

Additionally, the LJSA would provide a tax credit for businesses that advertise with local broadcasters and newspapers.
