Friends of Bill Burton MABF Board Scholarship

Bill Burton, former President/COO of the Detroit Radio Advertising Group (DRAG), was radio’s biggest cheerleader with a very enthusiastic attitude towards the broadcast industry. His primary responsibility was to sell radio at the decision-making level and he was individually behind an estimated $300 million in sales during his 30-year career.  Burton’s “Why Radio” sales presentation began with him laying out a piece of velvet on the desk, because what he was selling was more precious than fine jewelry.  He was known to once hire a marching band to thank a client for their business. Burton passed away in 2014, but his positive impact on the broadcast word is still remembered today.  More information about Bill Burton can be found here.
