On Wednesday Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and legislative leaders were able to come to an agreement on a supplemental budget that would restore funding to some of the vetoes that occurred back in October. The deal that passed will fund high priority items such as schools and public health and safety. Pure Michigan and hospitality workforce development funding has not been restored in this initial supplemental.

Even though Pure Michigan has not been restored yet, this initial supplemental is promising because it is the first time since the vetoes occurred that the law makers and the governor and have come to an agreement. The MRLA will continue to push for the restoration of Pure Michigan and hospitality workforce development funding when the legislature comes back in January. Senate Majority Leader Shirkey was reported to have said that Pure Michigan Should be privately funded.
