It’s Beginning to Sound Like Christmas in Detroit and Grand Rapids

WNIC’s Jay Towers kicks off fulltime Christmas music on November 1.

‘Tis the season!  This past week, several stations in Detroit and Grand Rapids made the flip to full-time holiday music, to air through Christmas Day.

In Detroit, Entercom’s WDZH-FM (98.7 The Breeze) flipped its format to full-time Holiday Music beginning at 6 a.m. on November 1.  A few hours later, at 8:15a.m., iHeartMedia’s WNIC-FM (Detroit) officially kicked off its annual all-Christmas format.  And that same day, Beasley’s WCSX-FM-HD2 dropped its oldies format and is also all-Christmas through December 25.

The Christmas spirit launched a few days earlier in Grand Rapids, when Townsquare Media’s WTRV-FM (100.5 The River) made the switch on October 29.  Days later, on November 1, iHeartMedia’s WSRW-FM (Star 105.7) made its annual format-flip to Christmas just before 7 a.m.
