Michigan’s broadcasters have provided critical information to viewers and listeners
through Virtual Town Halls during the COVID-19 emergency.

On March 26, the first Town Hall was hosted by WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) with Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Dr. Norm Beauchamp, the executive vice president for Health Sciences at Michigan State University answering questions from political reporter Rick Albin as well as those submitted by viewers.  The broadcast was also seen on other stations around Michigan.

On April 2, a consortium of Detroit Television stations presented Governor Whitmer in a second Town Hall that was seen on virtually every television station, not only in Detroit, but statewide on radio and television.  The Governor answered viewer questions in a hour-long broadcast hosted by a trio of Detroit television anchors: Devin Scillian of WDIV-TV, Devin Scillian of WDIV-TV and Carolyn Clifford of WXYZ-TV.

April 16, the same group of Detroit Television stations presented a third Town Hall featuring Senators Debbie Stabnow and Gary Peters.

Both Detroit Town Hall broadcasters were an effort of WDIV-TV, WJBK-TV, WXYZ-TV, WMYD-TV, WTVS-TV and WWJ-TV.
