WILX-TV Hosts "Operation Backpack"
WILX, Two Men and a Truck, and St. Vincent Catholic Charities kicked off their campaign "Operation Backpack" last month. People from the community brought in new backpacks and stuffed them with school supplies for needy children. Over the course of the month, more than 150 backpacks were colleced at the station. The community really stepped up, with hundreds more backpack collected at other distribution sites throughout the Lansing Area. The promotion featured Senior Meteorologist, Andy Provenzano; Lupe Izzo, wife of MSU Basketball Coach Tom Izzo; and US Representative Mike Rogers. Each made an impassioned plea to the market, and for the third straight year WILX-TV has beaten expectations in terms of response and donations. St. Vincent Catholic Charities are pleased to be able to deliver these supplies to needy children for a third year and we look forward to continuing the support of such a worthy cause!

MAB and MIARNG Celebrates 12 Years!
MAB and Michigan Army National Guard (MIARNG) have been partners since 1996.
The US Congress appropriates budget for the Army, Air Force, Marines and Navy marked specifically for advertising. The Army National Guard is unique because it has both a federal AND state directive.

Congress does appropriate the operating budget for MIARNG but does not provide any funding for advertising. Additionally, the operating budget provided is significantly less than that of other branches of the armed services. MIARNG is prohibited from purchasing electronic media advertising. Individual stations cannot receive funding for an ad campaign. There may be small local dollars for sponsoring and event or providing giveaways, but not message placement.

The MIARNG couldn't promote themselves or reach retention and recruitment goals locally without our help. Through this relationship broadcasters have the ability to not only ensure a strong association but also utilize some individual partnership opportunities. Contact your local Michigan Army National Guard Recruiter for more information on partnering with the Guard to provide various event display equipment to enhance your event.
