FCC's Michael Copps Visits Detroit to Talk DTV
The MAB DTV Team was busy on January 12 a Congressman John Conyers (D-14th) held a town hall meeting at Wayne County Community College. Special guest of honor was FCC Commissioner Michael Copps who told a packed room that Congress should consider delaying the February 17 digital transition date.

Why the $3.5 Million Federal Estate Tax Exemption Could Increase State Death Taxes

Here is some good news for being a Michigander. The Michigan estate tax is designed to absorb the federal estate tax credit for state death taxes. No additional estate tax is imposed in the State of Michigan. Generally, each individual is allowed an exemption from the federal estate tax.

State of the State, Legislative Reception Scheduled
Governor Jennifer Granholm will give her seventh State of the State address to a joint session of the Legislature on Tuesday, February 3.The annual address will take place that day at 7 p.m. from the House chambers. While the address will contain Ms. Granholm's proposals for the upcoming year, the economy is expected to be a major focus.

WWWW-FM/Ann Arbor Collects 2,440 Toys For Christmas!
Cumulus Media's WWWW-FM teamed up with Key Bank, U.S. Marine Corps and Washtenaw County Toys For Tots organization and brought smiles and over 2400 toys to local children just in time for Christmas! The station's Crusade for Kids campaign ran from December 15 to December 20.

Listeners Come Through Again During WDVD-FM's "Stuff-A-Bus"
Citadel's WDVD-FM/Detroit received record-breaking contributions during its 3rd annual "Stuff-A-Bus" campaign. Station listeners donated more than 15,000 toys to benefit local support agencies with Christmas gifts for children.

CBS Radio Tells Detroit To "Stand Up Be Proud"
With challenging economic conditions in the Motor City, the CBS Radio stations in Detroit brainstormed for ways for their stations could build good will in the community. A group inside the station, led by Jay Jennings, general sales manager of WYCD-FM, and Tim Roberts, WYCD-FM program director, came up with "Stand Up Be Proud".

WWJ Asks Metro Detroiters To "Chip In" To Help Keep Families Warm
CBS Radio's WWJ-AM/Detroit is hosting the Sixth Annual Winter Survival Radiothon for THAW (The Heat And Warm Fund) on February 6-7 at MotorCity Casino Hotel. The theme for this year's Radiothon is a play on casino lingo, urging people of Southeast Michigan to "Chip In" for emergency energy assistance.

WWMT-TV Hosts "Caring For Kids" Phone-A-Thon
On January 13, Freedom Broadcasting's WWMT-TV/Kalamazoo hosted an all-day phone-a-thon to encourage parents to sign up to MIChild, a low-cost state health insurance program that provides medical, dental and vision coverage to eligible children 18 years old and younger.
