MSU Men's Basketball Play-by-Play, Football Broadcasting Host

Will Tieman enters his 18th overall season as play-by-play voice for the Spartan men’s basketball team.   A 2013 inductee into the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Broadcasting Hall of Fame, Tieman was the MAB's Associate of the Year in 2010. He was honored in 2012 when he received the Ty Tyson Award for Excellence in Sports Broadcasting from the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association. During the basketball season, Tieman hosts the weekly Coach Tom Izzo Show and the daily three-minute radio series “Time Out with Tom Izzo”. In 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013, Tieman's work with the Spartans earned "Best Network Play-by-Play" from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. He most recently hosted the inaugural radio broadcast of the 2014 Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.

He returns for his 18th year on the Spartan football broadcast team, serving as broadcast host. During home games at Spartan Stadium, Tieman broadcasts from the Spartan Network’s on-field north endzone game day set. His other football-related activities include hosting the daily statewide series “Inside the Huddle with Mark Dantonio" and hosting the syndicated “This Week in College Football/Basketball" series, now in its 24th season. He began his play-by-play career in 1970 as the voice of Miami (OH) University and his career has spanned radio and television including sports director at CBS Affiliate WLFI-TV, 16 years of radio work from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, host of the Big Ten conference  series “This Week in College Football and Basketball” and national broadcasts of numerous bowl games and college all-star events.  He served as the lead announcer for legendary Coach Eddie Robinson and the Grambling State University National Radio Network (1990-92). A longtime member of the Football Writers and Basketball Writers Association of America, Tieman is a Past President of the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association.
