Campaign: Michigan’s Work Share Program
Dear PSA Director,
In our effort to share and spread awareness of the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency Work Share program, we are strongly asking that PSA spots will be run with any given opportunity!
In recent years, Michigan has endured some financial difficulty. Many declining businesses, as a result, have been forced to lay off numbers of their employees to experience stability and stay afloat. Even though Michigan’s unemployment rate is at its lowest point in more than a decade, there are still many businesses that are facing challenges which could require temporary layoffs. But there are other alternatives for Michigan businesses to consider to help retain jobs and employees!
Michigan’s Work Share program, administered by the Unemployment Insurance Agency provides an alternative for employers and businesses that face temporary slowdown. With this program, businesses are able to maintain their skilled workforce and help employees maintain their jobs, while helping to offset unemployment costs. Work Share is greatly beneficial for businesses to continue productivity in the event of uncertain times.
Instead of risking the loss of trained employees, businesses are able to offer reduced hours to their employees, anywhere from 15%-45% -- while those employees can make up a portion of their lost wages with Work Share unemployment benefits. Businesses have the ability to stay enrolled in Work Share as long as they need to be – up to 52 weeks!
To help keep Michigan’s economy and workforce strong, we urge Michigan businesses to be aware of their options before resorting to employee layoffs. The Work Share program gives Michigan businesses more than just hope that they are able to retain jobs and employees. The program keeps employees working, keeps business productivity going and keeps Michigan businesses strong!
Please help in our effort to share and spread awareness of the Work Share program amongst Michigan businesses and communities! Any opportunities to run PSA spots for the program would greatly help in spreading awareness!
